Studio Policy
Dress Code
Please write your dancer’s name on all items. Especially shoes.
As in every activity that we participate in, the appropriate dress code is implemented for a reason. For dance, wearing proper dancewear to class allows for ease of movement, as well as providing the teacher with the ability to detect and correct any physical problems dancers may have with their body alignment.
Dancers that are not properly dressed may be told to sit and not participate. The dress code at DDC will be strictly enforced so all of the dancers will be able to participate to their fullest.
Please remember
- Proper dance attire only
- No jewelry other than stud earrings is permitted in any classes for the safety of the dancers (e.g. no dangling earrings, necklaces, bracelets, etc.).
- Hair needs to be securely pulled back out of the face. Buns are required for all ballet classes.
- Required shoes are mandatory for all classes.
- Sports bras or cami tanks should be worn under all clothing except for leotards.
Ballet Classes
Ages 2–6
Any color leotard, skirt, or ballet dress. Any color tights (tights are optional), pink ballet shoes, and hair pulled back in a bun.
Any color athletic shorts, any color t-shirt, and black ballet shoes.
Ages 6 & up (Jr and up classes)
Black leotard, pink tights, and classic pink ballet shoes. Hair in a bun.
Black dance pants, black or white t-shirt, and black ballet shoes.
Combo Classes
Any color leotard, skirt, or ballet dress. Tights are optional; no-show socks if no tights. Pink ballet shoes and black tap shoes. Hair pulled back in a ponytail or bun.
Any color athletic shorts or pants, any color t-shirt, black tap shoes, and black ballet shoes.
Dancetivity
Any color leotard, skirt, or ballet dress with any color tights, pink ballet shoes, and hair pulled back in a bun or ponytail — or leggings, cotton shorts, t-shirt or tank top with pink ballet shoes or tennis shoes and hair pulled back in a bun or ponytail.
Any color athletic shorts, any color t-shirt, and black ballet shoes or tennis shoes.
Hip Hop
Pants, leggings, or dance shorts (no jeans), any shirt or tank top, and tennis shoes. Girls’ hair pulled back out of their faces.
Jazz / Musical Theater
Fitted top, dance shorts or leggings, and tan jazz shoes. Hair pulled back in a ponytail or bun.
Black athletic shorts, pants, or jazz pants, black or white t-shirt, and black jazz shoes.
Lyrical / Contemporary
Fitted top, dance shorts or leggings, and tan jazz shoes. Hair pulled back in a ponytail or bun.
Black dance pants, black or white t-shirt, and black jazz shoes.
Parent & Me
Anything they can easily move in. No dresses, skirts, or jeans. Barefoot or grip socks.
Activewear and tennis shoes are required.
Tap
Fitted top, dance shorts or leggings, and black lace-up tap shoes. Hair pulled back in a ponytail or bun.
Black athletic shorts, dance pants, black or white t-shirt, and black lace-up tap shoes.
Technique and Turns & Leaps
Fitted top, dance shorts or leggings, and tan jazz shoes. Hair needs to be in a secure low ponytail, low bun, or high bun, with the hair slicked back and neat.
